The executive branch is responsible for carrying out the laws and policies of the state. The governor is the head of the executive branch and is elected by the people. The governor appoints secretaries to oversee different departments, such as education, transportation, and health.

The legislative branch makes laws. The West Virginia Legislature is a bicameral body, meaning it has two chambers: the House of Delegates and the Senate. The Legislature is responsible for appropriating money to fund the state’s budget.

The judicial branch interprets the laws and applies them to individual cases. The West Virginia Supreme Court is the state’s highest court. West Virginia also has circuit courts, which are divided into geographic regions, and magistrate courts, which handle less serious cases.

The West Virginia government is responsible for the state’s public policy and overseeing the implementation of laws. It also handles the state’s finances, regulates businesses and industries, manages natural resources, and provides social services. In addition, the West Virginia government is responsible for promoting the state’s economic development and protecting its citizens’ safety and welfare.
